Where we started

Project Overview.

Jeremy Wells owns JWellsCFO, a tax and accounting firm devoted to helping knowledge workers and agencies. Jeremy’s industry is filled with competitors doing similar work, and he had no idea how to stand out or get clients to choose him over someone else. Jeremy said it was like “piloting a ship without a rudder.” When leads dried up and in-person networking vanished because of COVID, Jeremy knew he had to do things differently.

Jeremy didn’t know what his brand was, who he wanted to serve, or why his firm mattered more than those of his competitors. As he puts it, “It's difficult to differentiate in a field where we're all doing roughly the same technical work without a clear sense of who I'm helping, how, and why.” And if you look and sound like everyone else…why would anyone hire your firm?

Analysis

During our consultation, we coached Jeremy on all the branding steps and helped him realize he wasn't talking to the right customers.

By targeting and speaking to too many different people and industries, he wasn't getting the traction he needed.

When Jeremy adapted the copy we worked on together, he gained clarity on who his ideal customers actually were.
